Western Kentucky EDGE Jaques Evans has committed to Baylor following his official visit.

The 6-foot-2, 250-pound prospect posted 106 tackles, 13.5 TFLs, 8.5 sacks, and 27 QB hurries in 2022 as he was an All-CUSA first-team member that season. He was injured much of the 2023 season only appearing in six games. In 33 games his final three seasons he totaled 178 tackles, 18.5 for loss, 11.5 sacks, seven PBU's, five fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles.

Evans has proven production as a run stopper and pass rusher plus he has shown a high ceiling with his performance during the 2022 season. No one on Baylor’s roster is even close to as accomplished as a pass rusher or EDGE defender so this would be a clear upgrade for the room and the defensive line as a whole.

A couple key things helped Evans choose Baylor, first was his strong connection with Baylor linebacker coach Jamar Chaney who was his position coach at WKU and second was his relationship with Baylor STAR Kendrick Simpkins who transferred from WKU during the first window.

The staff is very focused on improving the defensive line and offensive line plus with the staff playing with two JACKs on the field more this move could pay huge dividends.
