NEW ORLEANS – Facing one of its competitive tournament fields to date, the 19th-ranked Baylor women’s golf team continues its spring season Feb. 26-28 with the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship.

The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Tulane, will consist of 18 holes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,105-yard course at English Turn Golf & Country Club. Sunday and Monday rounds will begin with 8 a.m. CST tee times, while Tuesday’s final rounds will begin with an 8 a.m. CST shotgun start. Eight of the 15 teams are rated in the Top 20 of the Golfstat standings, while 14 of the 15 are rated in the Top 60. Baylor freshman Hayley Davis is one of six individuals ranked in the Top 25 by Golfstat. Live scoring for all three rounds will be available at www.GolfStat.com.

Davis, rated 24th overall by Golfstat, and fellow freshman Emma Carberry will be flanked in the Baylor lineup by seniors Chelsey Cothran, Valerie Sternebeck and Jaclyn Jansen. Sophomore Kaylin Terry will compete as an individual.

In Baylor’s spring opener earlier this month, the Lady Bears owned a share of the lead after two rounds before finishing second at the UCF Challenge. Davis and Cothran tied for fourth, while Carberry registered her career-first top 25 finish. Baylor has finished either first or second in four straight tournaments.

Davis leads the Lady Bears with a 71.87 scoring average and has finished in the top 10 in each of her first five collegiate events. Cothran, second to Davis with a 72.93 scoring average, has four top 10 and five top 25 finishes to her credit. Jansen will make her spring debut in New Orleans. The Effingham, Ill., senior posted a 74.25 scoring averaging in four fall tournaments and won a share of the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate, which later earned her Big 12 Golfer of the Month honors for October.

After the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, Baylor will return to Florida for the Gator Women’s Invitational, which will be held March 16-18 in Gainesville.
