How many people do you think were actually interested in the Green Bay job? Before last year, that program had gone 16-76 over a three-year stretch, and the coach responsible for last year's "success" -- they went 18-14 -- bounced as soon as he possibly could.Big12Fan2024 said:

I can't blame racism for Black coaches not getting a job they were highly unlikely to even be after in the first place. I can't imagine many up-and-coming Black coaches are eager to bet their entire careers on a bad program in a state where Blacks make up only 6.3 percent of the population and a city where it's even less than that (4.2 percent).
In fairness to him, the most important thing in all of college coaching is recruiting. His profile will help him in that and as long as he has solid assistants around him it theoretically could work.

What probably happened is Doug agreed to be paid very little for the opportunity and would use a Deion Sanders-like coaching philosophy to bring in recruits. And if he does well, he can try to get the Oklahoma State job, his dream job. The hire has failure and publicity stunt by the school and the coach written all over it, but it does not have racism written all over it.

About the only nice thing he's said in recent memory about BU, was the new Foster Pavilion, calling it perfection. He has been outspoken that Ok State overexpanded Gallagher Iba way too much and preferred the smaller, original style.
