View Full Version : Drink Invention Contest: The Baylor

Got this idea from another thread (no direct connection).

Anyway, going through a divorce at Christmastime has forced me to become a more creative bartender.

So, forgive me if this is sacrilege, but let's have a contest to see who can make the best alcoholic concoction that will be known as "The Baylor."

Any liquors/ liqueurs are fair game.

The only requirement is that it that it be a mixed drink with Dr Pepper as the base.

Throw your recipe out here and the rest of us hold a vote in a later thread on the best recipe.

An obvious example might be a simple mix of gin and Dr Pepper - maybe garnished with a green lime wedge and/or a gold lemon wedge.

You guys are probably better at this than me. So, I will leave it to the experts on this one. ;)

How bout the four horsemen and dr. pepper?

or how about 3 parts 4th quarter collapse, 2 parts griping about it on baylorfans, 1 part "let's fire the coach...", and 3 parts DP.

I call it the "Original BaylorFans".

Okay, in honor of the incessant insurance ads on the Baylor Radio Network, how about:

Dr Pepper, Bailey's, and mint liqueur.

is there a way we can modify the Flaming Dr. Pepper to be a green liquor in a gold beer, that tastes like Dr Pepper?

But how would I be able to sample that at home?

I do not have divine powers; I cannot change Beer into Dr Pepper.

(Besides, why "flaming"?)

Flaming Dr. Pepper: 3/4 amaretto/ 1/4 Bacardi 151. Lite it on fire. Let it burn for about 5 seconds

Drop it into a half-pint of beer (so it goes out) and slam it.

Tastes like Dr. Pepper.

Beer is gold. if we could add something to the amaretto to make it green... Or maybe we could garnish it with something green? (amaretto is brown like a bear)...

I think that'd be awesome.

Whatever the mix, it has to be consumed directly out of the Dr. Pepper bottle or in private.

That's the whole challenge of it all, Babe.

I wasn't going to give you guys something easy to work with.

If DP has to be the base, about the best you are going to do is _____ and DP. You can mix all kinds of stuff in there, but it's just going to taste like alcohol and DP. Maybe try Jagermeister. That might stand out.

Goldschlager/Midori - probably nasty, but if you layer it right it will be green and gold(ish).

Look, if I can get a good drink out of Dr Pepper and liquor, I am calling it a Baylor and every bar in Waco will be serving it by the end of 2007. ;)

I was going to suggest a shot of goldshlager and apple pucker (green and gold)

and we could probably make a story about the apple being forbidden...

but whatever.

I thougth that would probably end up being ****t. and not apple-cinammon

Dr Pepper is not one of my favorite mixers.

You can substitute Big Red, but then it would be called a Fireball from Hell, served in a 48-ounce Big Gulp.

Word has it the ladies dig it pretty well.

Mine is simple:

Half oil, half water.

Very, VERY Baylor-esque.

awwww come on, your wife is a med student. drinking is almost half of school, at least on the weekends.

speaking of football games, i drank a bunch of Jim Beam Black and coke before the aTm game, and i was straight wasted at the game till about halftime. i drank about 300 mL, and then went to the game. i wasn't PC....I'll leave it at that.

Ingredients: 8 oz. beer
4 oz. cola
1 oz. kahlua
1 oz. Amaretto
1/2 oz. cherry brandy

Directions: Pour beer into beer stein, add coke. In a shot glass mix the three other ingredients. Pour contents of shot glass into beer stein and chug it all down. Tastes just like a Dr. Pepper.

Bwahahahaha, I like this one. Either that or something that would come out the color of sour green apple schnapps.

Maybe just the green apple crap and Goldschlager? Sounds nasty, but there's your green and gold.

I like the flaming Dr. Pepper idea, though. Flaming because I daresay a good half of Baylor's men are...well...at least in the closet.

Captain Pepper is downright tasty. Or just the Captain with extra...Captain. BID.

Mr Yogi,
Try a 40 ounce and a Dr. Pepper. You will forget about your ex-wife after you drink it.
It is a season to be happy. Present centered, future focused. Look forward to moving on in your life.
