what kind of animal would you be?

I think I would want to be a walrus. Fat, lazy, and always chill.

Chimp.

Scratch that. I'd be my poodle, Pierre. He so has the life. Sleeps about 20 hours a day, eats organic holistic tasty dog food, makes odd dog noises/growls, and runs spastically around a room for 5 minutes at a time, three times a day before passing out for another 2 hour nap.

This is Pierre, 2 years ago when he first came home from the shelter. This is his one-lip raised "Billy Idol" look. He was in such bad shape when he came to the shelter that they basically shaved him all the way down. No ear fur, no tail fur, etc. He had several infections that cost me a pretty penny to get cleared up. But since then, the fur's grown in and he looks handsome, he's in great health, and he loves to be lazy and terrorize his sister, Claire.

YOU STOLE MY ANSWER!

Think about it! They do nothing but eat, they have no natural enemies other than man, and they are incredibly cute and cuddly. I don't see a downside here.

If it weren't for the foraging for food bit (which I suck at), a javelina might work. But Puffalumps don't eat. I'd rather be a puffalump.

You realize that you have selected something that is not, in fact, an animal. That is inanimate, in fact. So you are choosing to be something that has no brain, no feeling, no ability to respond to stimuli, no backbone, no nothing.

I'd never really heard of Puffalumps before all these pictures and references to them, but I've met plenty of people living in a state of arrested adolescence. In my experience, life is easier for people when their development roughly matches their chronological age.

I realize it's not an animal, but that whole "living" crap gets in the way of my staring into space and laying around way more than it should.

Inanimate objects don't have optic nerves or brains to connect to them, so staring into space would be out of their reach.

1st choice: a Bear

2nd choice: a Wolverine

I don't think my decisions are too hard to understand.

I like LT's answer best. :)

Also I think I would pick a turtle third, and maybe a penguin fourth, and then Hogback.

I'd want to be a thouroughbred race horse. Get to run around in circles for a few years, then retire, be put out to stud, sit around all day and eat grass and have an incredible sex life ..

Ones that get shot by the owner of said bunny?

Humans > animals.

Maybe I'd just want to stay a person with a shotgun? ;)
