Anybody had any cool wheels back in the day?

I had this sweet 1974 Pinto station wagon in high school.

My last two years at Baylor I had a 1966 Mustang that I frequently pushed around campus.

I drove a Metallic Champagne 1973 Mustang in high school and college. On my way to freshman orientation I was car #2 in a 7 car pileup on I-35. The rearend of the car was crushed by an extended cab Chevy truck doing 65 and using my car to stop. I got it fixed and repainted electric blue and drove it all through college. I sold it about 4 years ago to a kid in my boy scout troop so I could have a down payment for my house. The kid still has the car and I see it all the time. One day I will buy it back.

http://www.xegesisonline.com/73mustang.jpg This was what it looked like after I had it fixed.

In HS a 1970 Mini Cooper (the real deal, right hand drive...course I went to HS in England) followed by a Ford Escort Cosworth RS (which is nothing like the Escort in the US).

In college I bought a cheap old beat up Porsche but I also had a Mustang and a Yamaha Sport Bike.

No wonder I was always broke, those summer jobs before college paid off though :) Chicks dig bikes!

Haha, my mom had an BMW before they were cool in high school...an Isetta. Problem is, Urkel ruined the bubble-bimmer's cool factor by driving one in his show, but pre-Urkel, that was an awesome car! It had the door in the front and everything.

I drove and still drive a bright red '00 Grand Am. And I'm pretty sure the barely noticeable dent in the hood was from me hitting a guy for a video project in high school, so if you see me coming...please move. I have no qualms about mowing down pedestrians. TIA.

I still have my 1985 Jeep Cherokee Chief, 4cylinder, 5 speed 4x4 from High School. Bought it at a sheriff's auction w/ 163k miles in 1994, now it has been parked for 5 years w/ 205k miles. I have dreams of restoring it one day. I knew that if I sold it for a measly $500-750, I would regret it forever.

The dream continues...

Well, that explains why my mom had one, then!

You bet I tried to use the fact that she had a BMW in high school to get one for myself, though...too bad that didn't work. She'd fire back that hers went 65 mph, tops.

1981 Chevy Silverado pick-up - but the darned thing died on me. (was a cool pick-up as well.)

Then, a 1991 Ford Ranger. It was pretty cool as well.

In HS I drove a chevy corsica for a while and an old ford f150 (like late 80's) don't remember what year. My senior year I got to drive my brother's brand new s-10 when he was gone for a couple months in the military.

In college I drove this awesome 18 speed mountain bike.

I just can't figure out how a bag of water and solute intended for vaginal cleansing ended up destroying your car.

I drove 4 different cars in HS. An f-150, an expedition, a nissan 280z and a mazda truck (if you see a red mazda truck with a marstaller motors sticker on it around waco, thats my old truck). When I graduated in 2002 my parents bought me a 1998 black dodge that i still drive now. It's starting to show some wear and tear with the paint, but i like it.

'64 Thunderbird most days and a '69 Electra on the others.

High school driver from '75 through '77.

Couldn't take the Troublebird to Baylor. Drove nothing my freshman year, a '70 LTD my sophomore through senior year and was punished with a '73 Estate Wagon for the SECOND senior year.

Dad sold my car out from under me and made me drive MOM'S old car for not graduating with my class. I didn't complain; at least I HAD a car. My girlfriend didn't seem to mind that all the seats folded down.

In 1994, for my senior year in HS (couldn't have a car until I got a job) I received a blue 1988 1/2 Ford Escort Hatchback with slightly peeling paint. I named her Ophelia. In October of 1995, during a drive down University Parks, the A/C unit spewed hot air, dust and debris all over me. Essentially, like her namesake, she was suicidal. At this point, my dad realized he'd spent more to repair Ophelia in the 15 months we'd had her than he did to actually buy her.

I didn't need an A/C for the fall, so Ophie remained. In March of 1996, I got an awesome brand new Toyota Tercel. I was even more excited because at this point, we were looking at cars older than Ophie. But my dad got me Persephone the Tercel. (Her friends called her Percy.) Percy ruled.

Unfortunately, Percy was a lease, and Toyota discontinued the Tercel shortly before the lease came due, putting Percy majorly underwater. Therefore, in March 1999, I got a 1999 Mazda Protege--green with a gold pinstripe. I named him Elton, as I got him the day before I left for my early graduation trip to London. I decided he needed a British-sounding name. Elton and I were tight until 2 years ago.

And then I bought my first car all by myself, a 2004 Saab 9.3 sedan.

Oddly enough, the Saab does not have a name.

I bought it my senior year in high school and sold it a month before I graduated from BU. No, it didn't have the Starsky & Hutch paint job. It had a 350 engine and would fly, but the back seat was so small it was certified by the FDA as a birth control device.

High School - '59 Pontiac Catalina Safari station wagon. It was 47 feet long, 18 feet wide, and weighed 7 tons. Or it felt that way when I was driving it. Got it up to 110 mph on Hwy 6 one time. Not sure how I stopped it.

College - '70 Dodge Dart. Swinger. Whoo. Had the most bugged up electrical system ever. Used to overheat when I turned on the headlights.

'71 Datsun 1200 that I bought for $500 from a Baylor student when I was 15. I sold it 2 years later for $750 with two flats on it at the time. Just before turning 17 I got THE car...a '74 datsun 260Z; metalic green with a white rally stripe. I was set until one summer's eve. That's right, some douche hit me too and all was lost.

First car was a 1966 VW that my Dad ('65 UT grad) painted orange in 1977. I repainted it white, but the interior was still orange and white. Midway through the senior year, He traded me his white 1984 Dodge Ram 50. I drove that at Baylor until the transmission went out and got his blue 1986 Dodge Ram 50. They were rice burners but great trucks. I put over 120,000 miles on each of them.

I drove my dad's old 1992/3 Chevy 1500 - it was actually pretty fun as it was a 8 cylinder/357. Fun times...

For high school graduation in 2001, my parents gave me a 2001 Chevy Lumina that I still drive. It just it 100k a couple of weeks ago. After 50k more I hope I've saved enough money to buy a car on my own - something a little more girly and young this time around!

didn't have a car until the summer before my Junior year here at Baylor (which was 2005, now that I think about it).

I got me a good deal on a green 1999 Mazda pickup that I'm still driving, paid it off in early 2006. Built the bed cover with my dad, much cheaper than buying one.

first car was my mom's early 60" Olds Dynamic 88.

Moved up to a Chevy Nova my Junior year. Would have had it in college but it got totaled the last day of school. So I have a Pontiac Ventura hatchback while at BU. Graduated and got a 1977 Chrysler Cordoba. Rich Corninthian Leather. Loaded. Everything possible except a t-top. Under $8,000.

My first car was a baby blue 1972 Plymouth Valiant with a Slant 6. I bought it for $775 from my 8th grade history teacher. One of these days I'm going to find one and buy it again. But it won't be baby blue.

Didn't have one until my freshman year at BU. It was a 1969 Mustang. Sort of a light yellow/greenish hued color. 302 ci V-8, dual exhaust with glass packs. Not all that fast, but it sounded and looked that way. Many adventures and conquests in that car- I wish I still had it. Bought a 2006 Mustang GT to make up for the loss.
