Women's team opened with a 14 over round today at Rawls course in Lubbock. They are currently tied with two other teams in seventh place trailing UT who shot 2 over. The top eight teams advance. There are fourteen teams ahead of the Lady Bears after the first round. Conditions are supposed to improve tomorrow but the wind always blows in west Texas.

its possible for teams to be tied, so I'm guessing that's why the numbers are that way.

If there were 14 teams ahead, the best they could be is tied for 15th...

Just checked the official site:
Women's Golf Tied for 15th at NCAA Central Regional (http://baylorbears.collegesports.com/sports/w-golf/recaps/050505aaa.html)

So, there are 14 teams ahead.

Looks like the Lady Bears did the work. They are now tied for first place after two rounds. Shot 13 over par today, must have been hellacious on the high plains today. Next closest round today was 19 over.

Finish the job Lady Bear golfers!

What a great day for the Lady Bears! The top 8 teams in the regional advance to the NCAA final tournament. Our girl from Montgomery, TX shot her lowest round ever (74). Sweet timing!

biggmatt, the post was correct. There were several schools tied in the standings after yesterday. Go to the ncaa.com site to see all scores.

The Lady Bears did do some great work today!

I played today myself in Plainview, 45 miles north of Lubbock, and the wind was really blowing. The Texas Tech Rawls course is a tough layout with tricky greens. I'm not surprised the women's scores are high.

Each of our girls posted their highest score of the tourney today. Bad timing...

Baylor women miss invitation to national tournament by 9 shots (8th place was 915 - Baylor was 923).

Baylor shoots 2nd WORST final round - 320 (only last place Long Island at 349 was worse).

But 3rd place in Big 12 tourney and being 1st in last round of regionals are highlights.

Good luck to the men!!
