Rams defensive end Leonard Little was sentenced today for his speeding violation - he was acquitted of the DUI charge. He received 2 years probation and is prohibited from consuming alcohol of any sort, for any reason during that time. I have a pretty good handle on how the people around here think about this issue. What, if anything does the rest of the country know or think about this?

How could he be so careless after killing someone a few years back? Even if he wasn't drunk in this incident (which I doubt), he should have better sense than that. I think he got off way too easy.

Put yourself in his shoes, except you are not an athlete playing pro ball. What would your sentence be at the hands of the judge?

if you kill somebody on a DUI or DWI you shouldn't get to drive again. Ever

I think you are right - My take on the guy is that he really isn't a bad person - just incredibly stupid.

He KILLED a 46 year old woman in a previous incident. This time he failed several tests at the scene, refused to take a blood test, cops say he was 'drunk, no doubt' and he gets off. Of course he is a pro athlete.
Not a bad person?
Same old double standard.

You or I would be in jail for a minimum of 20 if not more. Enough said.

The jury "let him off" this time because, under oath, the arresting officer admitted that he did not give Little ANY of the legitimate or required sobriety tests. Hey - I'm not saying that what he did was right, but he's not one of these trash-talkin, selfish, screw-the-world athletes. According to his old teammates and college roommate, he never touched alcohol in college - the accident happened on his 21st birthday when several of his teammates "took him out" to celebrate. I feel terrible for the family of the lady, and I've always thought the Rams should have traded him. But this last incident was different. How could he have been so dumb? He's got plenty of money - enough for cab fare - or a limo for that matter.

I'm wondering how they are going to enforce the "No alcohol - period" part of his probation.
