The men are on to the Elite Eight this afternoon at 4pm against Pepperdine. We defeated Pepperdine earlier this year 4-3 in Waco. Should be another good matchup today.

Baylor softball defeated Florida State, 5-3, and will play in the super regionals of the 2005 NCAA Tournament against California, and Baylor baseball currently has a 2-1 lead over Missouri in the 4th inning, as they look to secure their 2nd undisputed Big XII regular season title. I expect our #1 ranked Baylor men's tennis team to defeat Pepperdine, and advance to the 'Final Four' of the NCAA Tournament this evening. BAYLOR ATHLETICS: BEST SEASON IN SCHOOL HISTORY! :D

This should be a great match.

Dorsch's opponent Scott Doerner apparently retired against Dorsch. I'll take those easy wins any day against this team. They are pesky, Stat is right.

Benedikt Dorsch wins in a default 6-2 at #1 singles. Baylor now has a 2-0 match lead over Pepperdine. The Bears are going to have to really earn the other 2 team poionts for the win though. SIC 'EM BEARS!

Based on gametracker, 4-0 is no indication of how close the match was. Just a guess, but fighting so hard on Courts 4 and 6 to prevent PU from quickly tying the match was probably huge. Never allowed PU to seize the momentum. I suspect that Ivor Lovrak was playing some inspired tennis on Court 4.

COLLEGE STATION – Lars Poerschke knew the NCAA quarterfinals were going to be a different experience before he and his Baylor teammates ever got to the courts.

“On the team bus, everyone was quiet,” said the freshman from Buseck, Germany. “Usually everyone's laughing and telling jokes. Today, they were looking down, focusing, getting ready for the match.”

It didn't take Pepperdine long to notice the difference.

The top-seeded Bears blew the Waves out of the water in their specialty, doubles, then swept the top of the singles lineup for a 4-0 win Sunday night at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
