The No. 15 Baylor softball team (19-5) will wrap up its six-games in five days, taking on Buffalo (5-10) Friday at 12:30 pm followed by Liberty (6-10) at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Bears will wrap up their weekend with a 2:00 p.m. game against Buffalo on Saturday.
“We need to keep playing games and find confidence in our offense,” head coach Glenn Moore said. “Our pitching has been very good, and it needs to continue, but I believe our bats are due to come alive.”
Baylor enters the trio of games with a five-game winning streak after defeating North texas 2-1 in 11 innings on Wednesday. Kathy Shelton continues to pace the BU offense with a .408 average, good for seventh in the Big 12. The junior also leads the Lady Bears in runs (22), hits (29), slugging (.507), on-base percentage (.494) and stolen bases (15).
Junior Courtney Repka (8-2, 0.90 ERA) and sophomore Liz Paul (5-2, 1.73 ERA) have been stellar in the circle, allowing just one run in their last 27.0 innings.
Buffalo comes to Waco for the first time in program history after dropping a doubleheader at Sam Houston State Wednesday night. The Bulls are hitting just .214 on the year and have a 5.01 team ERA.
Liberty has sustained six straight defeats entering Friday’s games and have been held to one or zero runs during all six games in its tour of the state of Texas. Hitting .272 as a team, the Flames hold a 5.22 ERA.
