    Future Baylor Lady Bears

August 10, 2010. There are a total of 58 players listed, 37 girls from Texas. Reflects new ESPN HOOPGURLZ Rankings for 2012 Class on August 10. In the Class 0f 2012, 10 players of the Top 46 are from Texas.

According to baylorfans.com software, Posts are limited to 20,000 characters. Kdraptor69 made a good suggestion, delete the information on other schools commitments. I have now deleted 13 players to make room for ten more uncommitted players, but the Baylor commits are staying of course.

    Class of 2011

(7/30) Krystal Forthan, 6'4" Forward, lives in Georgetown, Texas. Not permitted to play Varsity Basketball as a transfer from Portland, Oregon by the UIL/District last year. She will play as a Senior. Now ranked #5 by Hoopgurlz, #4 by Peach Tree and #7 by All-Star Girls Report. Big wingspan, athletic, fast, shoot blocker and rebounder. She can really elevate. Not a good shooter outside the lane. Has shown an interest in Texas A&M. Injured during late June 2010, no word on her status as yet. Nae Nae Hayden committed to Baylor about 10 days or so after her knee injury at the start of her Senior year, Kim did not stop pursuing Hayden after the injury. (New) Forthan may now have a strong interest in Baylor, it would be a nice addition if this is correct.

(7/10) Krystal Barrett, 5'8" Guard from Dallas Skyline. Top 100 Player. Likes to run, very fast, long and can score. Aggressive on defense. Strong to the basket and can finish. Impressive passer, has a nice upside, good future. (8/2) Played well for DFW T-Jack Elite at Nike National Tournament.

(7/17) Porshe Roberts, 6'2" Forward from Waco, Texas. Now playing for DFW T-Jack Elite. Long, lean and athletic. Very good defender, rebounder and shot blocker.

(7/10) Shay Arnick, 6'1" Forward from Dallas Carter. Averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds as a Junior, selected All-Area by the Dallas Morning News. Very strong and physical player, lacks quickness. Plays this summer with DFW T-Jack Elite.

Tori Scott, 5'10" Guard from John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana, ranked #30 by Hoopgurlz. Very fast, aggressive defender, not yet a good outside shooter.

Sunejiro "Suni" Agbuke, 6'4" Center from San Antonio's Cornerstone Christian. Plays for the San Antonio Comets Elite team. Strong inside player, nice moves to the basket with soft finishing shot. Goes to her left well, needs to work on her right side moves as well. Big upside to her game. COMMITTED TO BAYLOR last summer at the end of their Elite Camp. Averaged 12.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.5 blocks as a Junior.

Britney Hardy, 6'1" Forward from Frisco, athletic but not a standout, still ranked #40 by Hoopgurlz. Played with Tiffany Moore (Texas) and two other Division 1 girls last year.

Elizabeth Williams, 6'3" Post, Prince Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Considered the #1 player in the 2011 Class by Hoopgurlz and All-Star Girls Report. Great athlete, can defend, rebound, is simply a super star. UConn, Duke and Virginia are her schools of interest.

Kiah Stokes, 6'3" Post from Marion, Iowa, ranked #10. UConn, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Georgia, Purdue and Maryland are possible schools.

(7/10) Haley Texada, 5'8' Point Guard from Frisco Wakeland, led her team on a good playoff run this year, athletic, strong and physical. Nice skill set and can score inside.

The strong Class of 2012 includes the following :

(8/30) Moriah Jefferson, 5'7" Point Guard from THESA, lives in Glenn Heights, a Dallas suburb. National Home School Player of the Year, her team won the National Championship for the 4th consecutive time. National MVP as a Sophomore. Now ranked as the #2 player in the US by Hoopgurlz, Peach Tree #4 and All-Star Girls Report #2. Considered as both the quickest and fastest player in the Class of 2012. To say she is athletic is an understatement. She can change direction in a blur, has unbelievable talent. I saw her play five times, great shooter from anywhere, especially three's. Can beat anyone in the open court, very unselfish, excellent passer, plays under control but scores at ease. I was asked by a Big 12 Head Coach what I thought of her, my reply was "she is not a good player, she is a great player" the coach replied with a big smile "yes, she is really a great player", then repeated the statement. Has been offered by Tennessee, UConn, Texas A&M, Texas, Duke, Stanford, Oklahoma, LSU and others. She has attended Baylor's Elite Camp and really likes Baylor. Tells her friends she is a friend of Griner's. According to fans, parents, friends and DFW Elite players she will most likely go to Baylor.

(New) Scout Bear described her as Angela Riley without the attitude. Plays with a big smile and if she makes a mistake lets her team mates know she messed up, wonderful attitude, she just wants to win. Had the College Coaches at the SMU event blown away with her quickness and overall game. By far the best player (about 800 girls playing at the Elite level) there even though she will only be a Junior this fall. Scout Bear also said he had never watched a demonstration like the one she put on to start the second half of the game. She did it all, hit 3's, stole the ball several times, blocked shots and caused the opponents guards to change directions. Made eight consectutive shots to start the half and the game was over, then she sat down and cheered her team on. She is the "real deal". (8/1) Named Most Outstanding Player at the Nike Championship Tournament. (8/30) Named Best of the Best Summer of 2010 regardless of Class by Hoopgurlz

(8/30) Alexis Jones, 5'9" Wing from Irving MacArthur. Named newcomer of the year as a Freshman in the DFW area by the Dallas Morning News. (8/30) Now ranked as the #4 player by Hoopgurlz, All-Star Girls Report #7 and Peach Tree #12. In June 2010 made the USA U18 Team, just turned 16. Was named First Team All-Greater Dallas as a Sophomore by the Dallas Morning News. Terrific athlete, very fast, great quickness, can change direction smoothly, can score with either hand on drives. Shots the three well, can really defend and has court vision, nice passer from the Wing. Is really a threat to score with an outstanding mid-range jump shot. Very close to Odyssey Sims, she attended Baylor's Elite Camp, has been to Waco for games this past season. Averaged 17 as a Sophomore, 7 rebounds and over 6 assists. Plays big in big games. Her best games were against Duncanville, Cedar Hill and in the playoffs. The most improved player I have seen in the last 5 years. Can dominate games at both ends, very good rebounder and just loves to compete. Has been offered by every big name school. But according to parents, fans and Odyssey Sims, Alexis wants to go to Baylor. MacArthur went 34-4 and 38-2 with Sims and Jones together. Baylor coaches went to at least 5 games this year to see Odyssey and Alexis play. They really played well together with Odyssey playing the Point and Alexis the Wing. Alexis and Moriah Jefferson would make a super pair together. (New) Alexis started all five games for the US U18 Team at Wing and led the team in rebounding at 5'9"!

(7/30) Breanna Stewart, 6'3" Post/PF, from Syracuse, New York. Unanimous #1 player in the Class. Led the US U17 team, considered its best player. Very athletic, can score big time, rebound and block shots. She is the complete package.

(8/30) Jasmine Jones-Vaughn, 6'1" forward, from Sparkman High school in Harvest, Alabama. Hoopgurlz #23. Athletic and an explosive offensive force, she attacks the rim and can finish. A good rebounder who can guard multiple positions on defense.

(8/30) Alexis Prince, 6' Wing, from Maitland High School in Eastlake, Florida. Hoopgurlz #14. Very athletic, great shooter and jumper, long and smooth player.

(7/30) Kayla Alexander 5'8" Guard, from Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. Athletic and agressive prospect. In Hoopgurlz Top 100.

(7/30) Kellyn Schneider, 6'4" Center, from Lubbock Monterey. Long, can rebound and block shots. Nice basic skill set, mother is Jill Rankin, Tennessee star and Gold Medal winner. Played well at Tennessee Elite camp this summer. Her older sister will play for Texas Tech this fall

(7/30) Brooke Fields, 5'9" Guard, from Faith Academy in Marble Falls. Good shooter with court sense, quickness may be a question, makes good decisions on the court. She is the younger sister of Baylor's Ashley Fields.

(8/30) Curtyce Knox, 5'7" Guard, from Atascocita in Humble. Athletic, quick, nice ball handler, gets great press in Houston. Is now Hoopgurlz ranked #42.

(7/30) Paige Bradley, 5'9" Guard, from The Woodlands. Hoopgurlz Top 100. Very good shooter, plays with confidence, smart player. Plays this summer with DFW Elite Washington 2012.

(7/30) Sidney Cook, 6'2" Forward from Oklahoma City's Southmoore High School. Hoopgirlz Top 100. Quick, fast and a good jump shot. Her length and strength make her a desired Division 1 prospect. Was selected to try out for the US U17 Team, but did not make the squad.

(7/30) Sara Hattis, 6'3" Center from Santa Fe, New Mexico's Saint Michaels. No information, but is a Hoopgurlz Top 100 player

(8/30)) Chelsea Jennings, 5'10" Wing from North Crowley High School. Now playing with DFW Gold 2012. Terrific jumper, can grab the rim, athletic and fast. Explodes offensively, complete player, very smooth, deceptive speed. Now ranked #15

(7/17) Ashley Eli, 5'11" Forward from Mansfield Summit. Now playing with DFW Elite Gold 2012. Smooth and athletic, good shooter, has nice dribble penetration moves.

(8/30) Jessika Palmer, 6' Guard, can play both Point Guard and Shooting Guard, from LaMarque, Texas. Playing now for the Houstonians. Has length and quickness, can create and also pass. Gets to the rim and can finish. Needs to work on mid-range shooting. Now ranked #25

Taylor Gilbert and Tyler Gilbert, 6'2" twin sisters from Hightower took their team to the Final Four, only to be defeated by Cy-Fair. The sisters each averaged a double double for the season and in the regional final against Houston Bellaire, Taylor had 15 points and 15 rebounds, Tyler had 21 points and 15 rebounds. They are projected to both be 6'5" by the family Doctor. They are on everyone's radar. According to the girls, they will go together as a package deal, no surprise. Baylor has expressed an interest. No news as yet this summer.

(8/30)) Nicole Kornet, 6' Guard, from Liberty Christian in Argyle, Texas. This is the same school Oklahoma's Whitney Hand attended. Nicole is now ranked #27 by Hoopgurlz, I have not seen her play, will make a point of watching her at least once this coming season.

(8/30) Bashara Graves, 6'2" Power Forward from Clarksville, Tennessee. Ranked #7 by Hoopgurlz. A strong and physical inside player, great leaper, rebounder and shot blocker. Another outstanding player in Pat Summitt's state.

(8/30) Jordan Adams, 5'11" Point Guard from Orange County's (Anaheim) Mater Dei. This athletic and scholastic powerhouse continues to turn out great athletes and scholars. The Notre Dame of Catholic High Schools, the largest private school west of the Mississippi. Jordan is considered by many College Coaches as the best all around player in the Class of 2012. Excellent ball handler, passer and terrific shooter. Good speed and great natural feel for the game, very unselfish, knows how to win, a natural leader, a Melissa Jones type of player. Will go to the school of her choice obviously, ranked #5 by Hoopgurlz and #1 by All-Star Girls Report.

(8/30) Rachel Hollivay, 6'5" Center from Caledonia, Mississippi, now ranked #3 by Hoopgurlz. Athletic, quick, very long and can run the court. Has a nice 15' jump shot and is a strong shoot blocker. Scout Bear and I got to watch her play for Florida'a Purple Essence, she was the most impressive player last week at SMU except for Moriah Jefferson. Active in the Post and sets up strong. Plays on the balls of her feet, moves well inside. Her frame is ideal, a real basketball body, needs no more weight and does not need to trim down. Will be a major contributor at the Division 1 level. She is going to transfer to a private school this fall, will get better High School Coaching per her Dad.

(8/30) Jamee Swan, 6'2" Forward from Marana High School in Tucsan, Arizona, ranked #30 by Hoopgurlz. Athletic and fast, with a good mid-range jump shoot. She is a hard worker who continues to improve.

(8/30) Je Zhe Newton, 6'3" Forward from Chandler, Arizona. Ranked #26 by Hoopgurlz. Long, strong, agile with good inside shooting skills. Needs to work on improving her fundamentals.

(8/30) Morgan Tuck 6'2" Forward from Bolingbrook, Illinios. Now #12 by Hoopgurlz, was higher rated before her ACL injury, she is not quite 100% as yet. Good shooter, moves well with the ball, very athletic, huge upside to her game. I hope she fully recovers from her surgery.

(8/30) Alyson Beebe 6'3" Forward from Saint Josephs in Santa Maria, California. Ranked #13 by Hoopgurlz. Athletic, long and fluid. She is more of a natural Forward although 6'3" and long. Needs to improve strenghth and conditioning.

(8/30) Imani Stanford, now said to be 6'7", from Windward High School in Los Angeles. Ranked #11 by Hoopgurlz. Has a good inside offensive game, is smooth and fluid, deceptive speed with her long legs. Daughter of former USC star Pam McGee. Now Ranked #2 by Peach Tree.

(8/30) Jordan Jones, 5'7" Guard from DeSoto. Very nice all around game. Athletic, good ball handler, has really improved this summer. Now playing with a DFW Elite team, she is one of Moriah Jefferson's closest friends. Will play Division 1 somewhere, if she continues to improve it could be the Big 12. (New) Now Ranked #42 by Peach Tree and #45 by Hoopgurlz. Her stock is rising among major college coaches this summer, will most likely go to a team in a major conference.

(8/30) Kristina Higgins, 6'4" Center from El Paso Chapin, ranked in the Top 100. Saw her play at SMU, big girl but could still run the floor. Worked at positioning in the Post, she really hustled at both ends of the court. Strong with a good work ethic. Someone to watch in the future, her second year to come to Dallas for the summer and play with one of the DFW Elite teams. Both Scout Bear and I like her potential. Now ranked #46 by Hoopgurlz

Sabrina Berry, 5'10" Wing from Crockett in Kyle, Texas. Athletic and long. Several posters have mentioned her in the past, not ranked.

Empress Davenport, 5'7" Guard from Duncanville. Another talented, athletic player from Duncanville.

(7/13) Derreyal Youngblood, 6'4" Center from Harvey, Louisiana. Good rebounder and defender, not much other information at this time. (New) Now Ranked # 29 by Peach Tree.

(8/30)) Nirra Fields, 5'9" Guard from Regina High School in South Euclid, Ohio. Explosive first step, great acceleration. excellent ball handler, has nice body control in traffic, good finisher. Needs mid-range shot. (New) Now #16 by Hoopgurlz.

    Class of 2013

(7/10) Breanna "Bree" Hayden, 5'10" Guard from Dallas Lincoln. Was the Dallas Morning News Newcomer of the year in the DFW area. Averaged 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists as a Freshman playing in a difficult 4A District. She is the younger sister of Baylor's Nae Nae Hayden. Very nice all around player, quick moves to the basket, can make three point shots, has terrific potential. (New) Does not play for DFW Elite, neither did Nae Nae. Working on her mid-range shot. Made one Freshman All-American Team. Now 5'10".

(7/17) Jessica Jackson, 6'2", Wing/Forward, from Jacksonville, Arkansas. Very long, excellant ballhandler, shifty moves in the open court, player to watch, big upside, can hit the 3.

(7/10) Diamond DeShields, 6'2" Wing from Norcross, Georgia. Led her school to a Georgia State Championship as a Freshman, averaging 17 a game. Ranked #1 by both All-Star Girls Report and Hoopgurlz. Has all the ability in the world. Her father played MLB for 13 seasons, mother played at Tennessee, her brother was just selected in the First Round of the MLB Draft #8. Does she have good genes or what! You can see her video under the Diamond DeShields Thread on this Board, thanks ScottS.

(7/10) Kristna Nelson, 6'3" Center from Norcross, Georgia. Not a misprint, another Norcross resident. This young lady plays for The Greater Atlanta Christian School. Plays well in the paint and is with the Georgia Ice Elite team this summer.

(7/10) Morghen Day, 5'5" Point Guard from Rockwall High School, younger sister of SMU's Haley Day, former All State player and State Champion at Rockwall. Good ballhandler and has natural court sense.

(7/10) Tyler Hamilton, 5'9" Guard from Mesquite Horn. Aggressive defender, fast, needs a better shot selection.

(7/10) Christen Inman, 5'9" Guard from Katy Seven Lakes High School. Quick and fast, she will take it to the basket.

(7/10) Alex Lapeyrolerce, 5'8" Guard from Sugar Land Kempner. Long with nice ball handling skills.

(7/10) Lisa Neeley, 5'8" Shooting Guard from Madisonville. Good outside touch.

    Class of 2014

(7/10) Brianna Turner, 6'3" Guard from Nolan Ryan Middle School in Alvin, Texas. Attempting to dunk now, gets both hands well over the rim. She is the #1 player per Hoopgurlz and #2 according to All-Star Girls Report. She already has a mid-range jump shoot, is athletic, long, fluid, handles the ball well. She will re-invent the Guard or Wing position. Attended Baylor's Elite Camp last summer as well as this summer and says she likes Baylor. Brianna is a straight A student and her father said " getting a college degree is the most important thing Brianna will do, basketball is secondary." Has now attended the Tennessee Camp (2010). Her parents say they will not focus on which schools to consider until her Junior year. Both parents are former Division 1 players, her dad played at the University of Houston. (New) Playing for DFW Elite Washington 2012 this summer, continues to impress.

(7/17) Recee' Caldwell, 5'8" Wing, natural shooter, soft touch, great mid-range abilities, drills the step back 2. Good Court sense with nice skill set. Now playing this summer for San Antonio's Finest, not sure of her High School.

Already Ranked #3 in the Class of 2014 by ESPN Hoopgurlz. Plays for DFW Elite Washington 2012 this summer. Will attend Cibilo Steele High School this fall (San Antonio northeast suburb). Has just verbally COMMITTED TO BAYLOR. Has said from the time she first started playing basketball "Baylor is my dream school".

    Cienna Rodriguez-Rivera, 5'6" Point Guard, ranked #12

Brooke McCarty, Point Guard, ranked #9

girl coming to texas that's going to be a senior this year, Nneka Enemkpali. anyway she's from my HS. led us to the State tourney last year as a sophmore. tore her knee up in that game and missed most of this season. came back for the end of the season and playoffs and we went about 3 rounds deep

she committed to Texas last summer. i expect her to be highly ranked. her game reminds me a lot of Sophia. great shot blocker and rebounder.

    DFW Bill,

Where would we be on this board without you. Thanks once again for keeping us abreast of what is going on on the recruiting trail. The future is indeed incredibly bright, as your report, suggests for our Lady Bears. Thanks again. Keep up the great work.

I would love to see us get those Gilbert twins. And I especially would NOT like to see them end up at OhU.

To me it looks like our great class from last year will be followed by one great player, Sims, and then the next class might be below par compared to UT and A&M. 2012 and beyond look hopeful.

Scott, DFW ELITE's website has not as yet set out the eight or nine teams for this summer, so we don't know as yet which girls will play together. It seems obvious that Moriah Jefferson and Alexis Jones will play together on the top rated T-Jack Elite Team.

GarlandBear, we have three great players coming in this fall to play, Odyssey Sims #3, Brooklyn Pope #9 and Destiney Williams #8. I look for a shooter to be added in 2011, along with Suni. Then with the outstanding Class of 2012 as many as five players.

Briana Turner, 6'4" Guard from Nolan Ryan Middle School in Alvin, Texas.
Could dunk as a 6'1" seventh grader. She is the #1 player per Hoopgurlz and #2 according to All Star Girls Report. She already has a mid-range jump shoot, is athletic, long, fluid, handles the ball well. She will re-invent the Guard or Wing position. Attended Baylor's Elite Camp last summer and says she likes Baylor. Brianna is a straight A student and her father said " getting a college degree is the most important thing Briana will do, basketball is secondary."
Is this the type girl that goes to Stanford or Notre Dame or is she likely to stay close to home?

That's what happens when you recruit the #1 recruiting class in the nation and they pan out.

Kids know that we are stacked for the next three years. I would expect recruiting to upturn in a couple of years when this current freshman class is in its junior season.

    Courtney Williams

Scott, you are correct, I should have included Courtney Williams.

Courtney Williams, 6'1" Guard from Houston North Shore, ranked in the Top 100. Selected last Summer to try out for the US under 16 National Team.
Athletic, talented tall guard, can finish in the lane. I have not heard any more on her, do not know how her Sophomore year went. No schools listed.

    Also

Shaqita "Shay" Arnick, 6'1" Forward from Dallas Carter, Class of 2011, averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds, no schools listed at this time, DFW Elite player.

    and

Temi ***benle (***benle), 6'4" Center/Forward, attends Blair Academy which I believe is in the Philadelphia area, this young lady is from England and has created quite a lot of attention recently, now ranked #21 in the Class of 2011. Long, good shoot blocker, can shoot both right and left handed, just developing, huge potential. I would like to see Bill Brock work with her!

The system will not accept the first portion of her last name, the first three letters in reverse are gaf

    and

Brittanya Sterns, Forward from Waxahachie, Class of 2011, averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds, second team All Area (DFW) by the Dallas Morning News.

All may not know that her father is James "Cookie" Sterns, a star for Baylor in the 80s. Her brother, Jamison, is a senior this year and a few years ago was committed to BU.

Not sure if you want to come to Dallas some this spring/summer, but Jefferson plays on DFW Elite AAU. Send me a PM if you are interested.
