Lowrie makes it 8-2 after his double was reviewed and shown to hit off the rail just above the yellow line in left field. Sure sounded like it hit off the wall.
8-2 the final score. 5 straight wins!Last edited by evergreen; 05-05-12 at 08:50 PM.

THIS THREAD NEEDS UPDATING!!!!!
As of this AM (Sunday, May 6, 2012) the 'Stros are 13-14 and on a 5 game win streak. Just swept the Mets and have already won the series vs the damn Cardinals. Altuve and Lawrie are CLEARLY the best combo of SS/2b in all of MLB (defense & offense combined) and the team is hitting very well. Home runs are starting to happen, too. The pitching is quite a bit better...and the 2012 Astros are easily the 'most improved team in MLB', so far. I sure hope they maintain this improvement and they really do seem capable of doing so. GO 'STROS!

OMT...
Lawrie's 4th homerun clearly hit the dark green metal railing which is about a foot above the 'yellow line', then bounced onto the field. I don't know how much umpires are paid, but at least one of them was overpaid yesterday. They shouldn't of had to use TV replay to know it was a homerun. However, at least they did get it right....eventually.
SWEEP THE CARDS TODAY!

Definitely agree with Hambone about the sample size, but even if you expand it to the Astros infield,
Altuve -- .346 avg., .918 OPS
Lowrie -- .338 avg., .979 OPS
Johnson -- .306 avg, .813 OPS
Lee -- .280 avg, .737 OPS
-----------------------------------
Average -- .318 avg, .862 OPS
That is one of the best offensively performing infields in the majors so far, if not the best. The Yankees have the names, and will eventually pass Houston, but their four are averaging .284 avg, .773 OPS right now.Last edited by ValpoCory; 05-06-12 at 11:42 AM.

Well, I guess enough Austinites complained, because the Astros are now the main MLB team in Austin again on Time Warner. The Rangers are on the alternate channel 77 and the Astros are on the main HD station 1639.

We lived in Austin from 1989-2001, then Waco from 2001-2003. Had been in Uvalde (85 miles west of San Antonio) from 1986-1989. During that 18 years stretch we simply could not watch the Astros on ANY channel! It was hard on us, too, for we'd been driving to Houston from Waco to watch 'em starting in 1965...then lived fifty miles from the 'Dome from 1969-1986. We moved to central Arkansas in 2003 and have been able to watch nearly every game since then. Go figure. I have honest-to-gosh feelings that the 2012 Astros will continue to be competitive all season. GO ASTROS!

Myers closes out the win after Bogusevic made it 3-2 with a pinch hit double in the bottom of the 8th. Nice.

Nice comeback for a 3-2 Astros victory, and a chance for a series win tomorrow. 8 saves for the closer, Brett Myers, this season.
