My favorite is by Kenny Mayne: I am amused by the simplicity of this game. Bring me your finest meats and cheeses.

Another great Dan Patrick-ism is:
"That's why they don't play games on paper. They play them inside television sets. Let's go to the highlights."

I like it when Stuart Scott cranks out another hip phrase that runs longer than the actual clip it refers to, so occasionally he'll say it even faster, but it still runs longer than the clip. Then I like that I'll turn on SportsCenter two years later, and he's still using the same hip phrase.
I also like it when Kenny Mayne acts like he doesn't care at all about sports, because he's, like, even cooler than all sports. (Although I am surprised he was Randall Cunningham's backup at UNLV).

I think my 5 or so favorite have to be...
"He's running like people are chasing him" - John Anderson
"He's so clutch and he doesn't even know it" -Linda Cohn (any swingers reference gets bonus points
"Have you seen my baseball" - Rece Davis
"You hang it, we bang it" - Kenny Mayne
"Bases loaded, bases unloaded" - Trey Wingo

"It's a 6-4-3 double play if you're scoring at home. If not try flowers" is pretty funny.
I also liked Keith Olberman's "He's day to day. We're all day to day.".

What the hell was Kellerman thinking going to Fox. Didn't he see what happened to Keith Olberman? My personal favorite is when one of them (Kenny Mayne?) would say something to the effect of, "That's his 33rd home run. Not in one game, that would be a record."

Also the classic that I just heard again:
"That's a great pitch..."
"For what?..."
"For me to poop on!"

05-20-04 01:04 AM #15ESPN didn't give him many (or any) fights to call, and I think they're pulling back on boxing coverage. It looks like he didn't have much of a future there and FOX was his best option for work. What the hell was Kellerman thinking going to Fox.

Chris Berman is cool, and I'm glad that they let him on sports center recently, but they got to get Dan Patrick and Kenny Mayne back together. Right now Kenny Mayne is doing weird (but really funny) features for Sports Center but I would like him better as a SC anchor.

I also like the "not in one game, that would be a record" phrase. I used to like Stuart Scott, but lately he's been a little too hip-hop for me.
There's a great article in FHM magazine this month about this. It's an interview with Keith Olberman about SC anchor catch-phrases, and how he and Dan Patrick were the ones who started it, and which anchors have good ones and which anchors suck. I read it just a few hours ago whilst dropping my kids off at the pool.
