WACO, Texas – Baylor Softball received three All-Big 12 selections among the 2024 All-Big 12 Softball postseason awards announced Wednesday morning by the conference office.

This marks the third-straight season the Bears have had three or more earn Big 12 postseason honors.

Shaylon Govan was selected for the All-Big 12 first team for the second-consecutive season after her standout performance for the Bears. She leads BU with a .445 batting average, eight home runs and 27 RBIs. Govan is currently on pace to set single-season Baylor records in on-base percentage (.593), walks (44) and batting average.

The 2023 All-American leads the Big 12 in batting average and walks, while leading the conference and the nation with her on-base percentage. She most recently hit her eighth homerun against conference foe, Houston, that propelled the Cougars to intentionally walk Govan seven-consecutive times.

Joining the postseason honors are Aliyah Binford and Emily Hott on the All-Big 12 second team.

Binford worked her magic as a two-way player for the Bears as a pitcher, designated hitter and third baseman. She tossed 125.0 innings in the circle, striking out 132 and compiling a 11-10 record. As BU carried the No. 1 strength of schedule in the nation for most of the season, Binford led the Big 12 in strikeouts, making 26 appearances and totaling nine complete games.

Binford also hit .263 on the season with 23 hits and seven doubles. This postseason honor marks Binford’s second All-Big 12 award of her career.

A fifth-year senior, Hott has played and started in all 50 games for the Bears this season. She has totaled 53 hits, nine, doubles, six triples and eight home runs, as she has a .623 slugging percentage. Hott’s six triples tie a Baylor single-season record.

Hott had a breakout moment in her home state of Oklahoma this season when she hit .625 against No. 1 Oklahoma. She totaled seven hits that week, with two doubles, two home runs and three RBIs. She only struck out once, drawing two walks with a 1.364 slugging percentage. Hott reached base in all but one plate appearance against the top-ranked team.

Next up, the Bears are heading to the 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Tournament this week as the No. 4 seed. Baylor will face No. 5 seed UCF on Thursday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. CT at OGE Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Okla.
