Look at the kid's film I posted earlier in the thread. This guy is going to make this team and be a terror blocking.

IMO - they needed to come out with OL and LB in this past draft, which they did. RB was also a concern but we can pick one up when the dust settles. Blocking is paramount.

I have no problems with the draft. That little 1st round tradeback sweetened the deal quite a bit. I probably would have gone RB at some point though

As far as FA, the biggest snafu was passing on Derrick Henry who wanted to come here. Went to the Ravens on a two year deal worth just over $4m per if memory serves. That's a bargain for a RB of his quality.

Tyler Guyton rented an AirBnB close to the practice facility so he could work with one of the Cowboy coaches on moving from RT to LT, instead of going home and partying. Good capital for him

After mini camp:

McCarthy also had high praise for tryout quarterback Mike Hohensee from Northwest Missouri State.

"I think the biggest thing is you want to give him a real opportunity," McCarthy said. "I think if you're bringing a player in and it's just already resolved on what you're going to do, that's a closed way of thinking. Do we think we're going to take four quarterbacks to training camp? Maybe not, but this will be a conversation after [Saturday]."

FRISCO Another spring appears all but lost for Luke Schoonmaker.

The Dallas Cowboys tight end is expected to miss all of organized team activities with a hamstring injury, coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday morning. Schoonmaker, a 2023 second-round pick, was already sidelined a portion of the offseason following shoulder surgery. Last year, he missed the spring and start of training camp because of a foot injury that dated back to late in his college career.

A completely wasted and unnecessary pick

So I just interviewed Bob Breunig for my Tom Landry piece. Waiting to see if I can get Roger Staubach and I will be done. Gonna tick some folk off, but it's not an opinion piece. Instead I went back to the 80s wire and press reports and got the juciest tidbits out of them.

BTW - Landry was actually fired by Tex Schramm in the video room at Valley Ranch, not the golf course in Austin by Jerry Jones. More on that in the article.

Wed OTA observations:

Ezekiel Elliott is being viewed as the leader of the RBs room, but it is already beginning to look like a committee approach as he and Rico Dowdle split nearly all of the first-team reps on Wednesday. - Walker

Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe will need to earn their way into starting roles in 2024, beginning their journey taking second-team reps while Chuma Edoga (left tackle) and Brock Hoffman (center) took the starting role to open OTAs. - Walker

The battle for WR3 is off to the races, literally, as Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks were both targeted by Dak Prescott in first-team duties during full team drills, but KaVontae Turpin was not to be denied targeted heavily in 7-on-7 drills and catching at least one deep fade in full team drills from Prescott. - Walker

Trey Lance had several well-placed throws in full team reps to open practice including in traffic over the middle that only undrafted wide receiver Corey Crooms (5'11") was in position to elevate and grab (it was completed), as Lance looks far more comfortable in his process now. - Walker

Looking at some of the defensive rookies, Marshawn Kneeland won several reps against the Cowboys' starting offensive line while Marist Liufau spent most of his practice time rotating between the first and second team; as cornerback Caelen Carson was assigned to the boundary for all of his reps (and not the nickel). - Walker
